Our Community Needs Us
Since 1979, the San Diego American Indian Health Center (SDAIHC) has strived to meet our mission of “excellence in health care with respect for custom and tradition.” SDAIHC has provided high quality, comprehensive, compassionate primary medical, dental, and behavioral health care to its community. A youth center provides early intervention/prevention programs that are so needed in today’s environment. SDAIHC provides care for the mind, body and spirit, and the organization has earned trust and loyalty by serving American Indian/Alaskan Native and low income community members with respect, dignity and cultural sensitivity as a Patient Centered Medical Home and safety net for essential health care and social services. It is a key resource experiencing more than 20,000 visits each year to its downtown facility.
San Diego American Indian Health Center (SDAIHC) is a non-profit 501(c)3, Federally Qualified Health Center. Community support has always been essential to advancing our mission. In January 2018, the SDAIHC launched a capital campaign to raise an estimated $11 million to renovate existing space and incorporate/renovate the new building in order to double its capacity. This will enable SDAIHC to offer medical, behavioral and dental health services to a larger population of American Indians/Alaskan Native and low income families in need.
