Youth Outreach

At the San Diego American Indian Health Center, we’re dedicated to empowering our youth. Our Youth Outreach Program provides essential resources and support to help young individuals thrive in their health and well-being. We’re here to listen, understand, and guide them on their journey.

Visit our Youth Center located at 2560 First Avenue, Suite 103, San Diego. The center offers a safe and supportive space for youth to engage in various activities, access resources, and connect with peers and mentors.

Youth Center Activities

Generation Red Road Youth Curriculum

This program incorporates Indigenous culturally evidenced-based practices focused on healing historical and intergenerational trauma, emphasizing prevention and early intervention in substance use, suicide prevention, and mental well-being.

Health Education Workshops

We offer interactive sessions covering vital topics like nutrition, mental health, and healthy decision-making to empower youth with essential knowledge.

Indigenous Storytelling

Youth learn about Native American history and traditions through oral storytelling, fostering a deeper connection to their heritage.

Indigenous Arts

Through programs like “Let’s Get Crafty” and art classes, participants explore Indigenous arts and crafts, promoting creativity and self-expression.

Youth and Elder Mentorship

We facilitate connections between youth and elders through cooking and cultural teachings, strengthening relationships and sharing wisdom.

Youth Intertribal Council

This initiative encourages young people aged 18-24 to engage in advocacy and leadership, developing skills to address important community issues.

Intertribal Sports (ITS)

We provide athletic opportunities that promote physical health, teamwork, and leadership development through various sports and activities.

We accept all major insurance plans.

No insurance? Call (619) 234-2158 to enroll in a low or no-cost health plan through Covered California, Medi-Cal, or program.

American Indians/Alaska Natives from federally recognized tribes may receive routine care at no cost including visits for Medical, Behavioral Health, and Dental Care. 

Patients who are HIV positive may qualify for free oral health services through the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program.

Children aged 0-5 may qualify for free Dental Services through First 5 San Diego’s Oral Health Initiative.
