The Annual San Diego Balboa Park Powwow.

On behalf of the Balboa Park Powwow Committee, we would like to address an incident that occurred during this weekend’s Powwow involving attendees and a political hat worn by one of the visitors.

A disagreement arose between individuals attending the event, which unfortunately escalated into a confrontation. Members of the Powwow Committee immediately stepped in to help de-escalate the situation and restore a calm and peaceful environment for all attendees.

We want to clearly state that the comments and actions of individual attendees do not represent the views or position of the Balboa Park Powwow Committee. Balboa Park is a public space, and we believe in freedom of expression and the right of individuals to peacefully express their personal views.

Our actions were solely focused on reducing tension, protecting the safety of those present, and preventing further conflict. The individual’s decision to leave the event was not directed or requested by the Powwow Committee.

The Balboa Park Powwow has always been centered on culture, community, respect, and unity. We remain committed to providing a welcoming and respectful environment for all who attend.
