The San Diego American Indian Health Center Medical Department provides family-centered care for all ages, while emphasizing prevention and proper health maintenance through education. We recommend patients get regular check-ups, even when not sick, to increase their chances of living a long and healthy life. Our caring medical staff treats acute and chronic problems and offers the following services:

We accept many health insurance plans, including Medi-Cal (Care 1st Health Plan, Community Health Group, and Molina Healthcare) and all tiers of Covered California plans from Anthem Blue Cross, Blue Shield, Health Net, and Molina Healthcare. Patients with private PPO coverage can also be seen.

If you do not have insurance our certified enrollment counselors can help you enroll in a low or no-cost health plan through Covered California or Medi-Cal. We can also assist you with transferring into a Medi-Cal plan that is accepted at our health center. To complete an application for insurance, you will need to show a California driver’s license or state identification card; proof of permanent resident or certificate of citizenship (if born outside the United States); and proof of all income, such as recent paycheck stubs or a letter from your employer. Uninsured patients may also be eligible to receive services on a sliding fee scale, with the cost of treatment based on your family size and income. American Indians from Federally recognized tribes may receive the following services at no cost: medical office visits; behavioral health visits; and routine dental care including exams, x-rays, cleaning, fillings. American Indians are responsible to pay for labs, x-rays, medications or referrals which are not covered by insurance or a special program.
